style/fashion pick your poison

It’s 12am on a Saturday and I thought I felt inspired to write something, but here I am sitting on the couch as I watch the final episodes to the 6th season of the acclaimed show MAD MEN with nothing to write. My head suddenly feels as empty as it does anytime I see a math equation or whatever.

I do remember wanting to write about the difference between style and fashion before I picked up my laptop, or something about if there is a difference between style and fashion. Do you think there is? Because I definitely believe both are different but one is very dependent on the other. I'm not going to define them for you, we have google for that. Well quite frankly I'm more of a stylish girl than a fashion girl, most of the times I dress like me and on rare occasions I dress like every other person to sometimes be in “FASHION.”

Take for instance these two outfits below, both have their own individual style, but one is heavily influenced by fashion rather than style. Can you tell which is it? Well the outfit on the left, Outfit 1, quite obviously is more of a fashion influenced outfit than a stylish one. In fact according to trends this is the most worn outfit ever, especially during the winter season but not limited to it. Everywhere you look there's a person wearing a unitard with a pair of huge fur boots or padded puffer boots or the ever so famous moon boots.

So do you think this outfit, outfit 1, was worn with a touch of my personal style even if this is how every other person wears it because I chose to go with the padded puffer boots? Or do you think my personal style had nothing to do with it and I was just following fashion?

Outfit 1: Unitard and puffer boots are from H&M

Outfit 2: bodysuit is from prettylittlethings; pantyhose is from H&M; skirt is from ruve shop; coat is thrifted; heels are Karl Lagerfeld via Hudson's Bay; necklace is from slide jewelry; other accessories are also thrifted.

Now the outfit on the right, Outfit 2, is the product of a thought through process of picking the pieces of clothes and putting them together. For this outfit I got inspired by the Azzedine Alaïa catsuit worn by Naomi Campbell. Of course it was a very revealing outfit, I styled a pantyhose with a bodysuit to get the unitard look, instead of wearing a full jumpsuit. Then I added on the skirt to complement the event because I definitely wasn't going to show my bare ass at a restaurant. To finalize the look I put on a pair of high heels with a gold accent on them, because nothing complements black like gold does, a Jones New York long fur coat I thrifted just recently, a pair of sunglasses because they are always essential, and some gold accessories.

Now with the almost detailed description i gave of how this outfit came to be, would you say this is an outfit based on style or an outfit based on fashion?
