it’s freezing out but university student wants to dress like Rihanna.

a few years ago -precisely in the year 2021- Rihanna -Bajan artiste and businesswoman- went grocery shopping in an outfit with very luxurious pieces, two years later Nigerian stylist/blogger/creative director, Francisca Ehileme finds tweed Karl Lagerfeld jacket at a thrift store on a random snowy day, and a few months later decides to take Inspiration from Rihanna’s outfit.

This is how it turned out.

THE OUTFIT.

worn for a visit to an art gallery, I really wanted to style the tweed jacket a lot different from how I styled the first time I wore it -which was with a pair of pantyhose and boots, it was warm then.- I racked my brain on what else to wear it with for a while before I remembered Rihanna’s outfit, and it was pissing me off that nothing besides a pantyhose came to mind to wear underneath this jacket😂 so when this one did I was really excited to experiment and play with the pieces in my closet that would give off the same vibe as Rihanna’s outfit.

although I looked to an outfit someone else had worn for inspiration, I made sure the outfit still screamed “ME!” matching the colour of my bag to the colour of my pants -which usually dominates my outfits- is something of a signature style I love including in my outfits, so I made sure I did so for this outfit. in its way this detail separated my outfit from Rihanna’s. another thing would be the way I accessorized, like using a scarf to create the illusion of a choker necklace, all just makes the outfit look more original than not.

I would love to go in depth about how to take inspiration from someone else without it looking like “COPY AND PASTE” but I have that planned for a different post. but for now enjoy some amateur picture editing ✌🏽
