I dressed in 2000s fashion every time I went out

I am for sure one of those people who “ALLOW” themselves to be inspired by things going on around them, it could be the weather, quite obvious, my current mental state, the current dreams I could be having, and most recently the tv series I could have myself hooked on.

American series Castle is the mystery/comedy/drama series that has me hooked right now. Since it aired in the year 2009 most of the fashion in it is the weird 2000s fashion we all wish we never exhibited, but it seems to have some style inspiration for ones daily looks, and I’ve been feeling inspired to intentionally dress like people did in a previous era. A new task I can challenge myself with.

So, because I am watching a 2000s tv series, I will be transporting myself back to the 2000s fashion era, styling my next outfits based on that era.

For the first outfit,

which was worn to go chill at the coffee shop and run errands, I opted for a comfy athleisure look. Something comfy and warm that I would be able to move in.

I paired my tube top with a cropped long-sleeve top, because it’s still cold over here, and a pair of high-waisted flare joggers to give it that 2000s comfy look. For my footwear I opted for a pair of puffer boots, because with the snow melting there’s just water everywhere and I could not risk wearing anything else. To finish off the look I styled the outfit with a baseball cap from the brand Boheme Goods. I think it still gave the outfit that comfy tracksuit look that everyone wore in the early 2000s.

The second outfit,

which I wore to go to church and then the mall for some shopping, very much brought the 2000s vibes.

I love a good dress over pants outfit. When styled correctly the look can be pulled off by anyone. For this look I styled a knit-dress from Topshop, via Hudson’s Bay, with a pair of black Wrangler jeans I got from the thrift store; and a pair of Adidas Ozweego Pure sneakers, the most comfortable shoes I own yet! To finish off the look I added a bandana which I styled by tying it on my hair, I wore a pair of bikers sunglasses and a Guess shoulder bag. All these put together really definitely gave the outfit the vibe I was going for, I kept thinking about the Disney shows and movies I watched when I was little, and this look was a prominent style for most of the Disney characters and quite frankly a look I was very much obsessed with.

And for the third and final outfit,

because I don’t go out much and I have to post this this week, I actually put pieces of clothing you would wear in the mid 2000s together to just create a look.

I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t say for sure that this is a 2000s fashion look. Maybe it is or it could be. But it is definitely inspired by it. For this outfit I focused mainly on styling this Vintage Ralph Lauren denim pants, going for a blue monochrome look. I paired the pants with a thrifted Calvin Klein long-sleeve shirt, a pair of Call It Spring boots, a Guess shoulder bag, a bandana for my hair, a pearl necklace along with a gold-silver necklace, a pair of red-gold earrings from H&M, and for the final touch, a leather varsity jacket from Trigo’s Lifestyle Clothing Store to put the whole outfit together and also keep me warm☺️.

Although I could only create three looks, I definitely enjoyed the challenge of trying to put each outfit together so I will be trying to create looks from other eras as well.

Till then✌🏽.
